My One Word for 2022

About 10 years ago I started to choose one word, for the new year, instead of setting News Year goals, I set my intentions based on the word of the year. I used to set goals every year, and like so many of us, goal setting became overwhelming and unfruitful for me, instead of feeling motivated I would feel, defeated and unworthy of succeeding.

So when I attended an annual women's brunch hosted by one of my besties church, the theme of the brunch was One Word. It changed the way I planned out my New Year.

I used to set lots of goals each year, and then daily and monthly I would choose words to help achieve my goals. Sure, I did achieve some of my goals throughout the years, but mostly I would have unfinished goals, and feel completely like a failure. The only thing that helped was knowing I wasn't alone.

So that year, I literally took a leap of faith, and dropped all goal setting and chose just One Word.

This year my word is FLOW... I chose it after much thought. I wanted to continue learning to let go of control, let go of needed to control, everything, it gets exhausting trying to control it ALL. So I needed to further my lessons in letting go, and going with the flow.

I trust in the ebb and flow of the universe

I trust that life's bigger than what I can see

I trust that there is a divine order beyond my control

And I trust that no matter what happens I will be all right
~ Oprah Winfrey

If you had asked me 25 years ago, if I thought I'd be where I am at today, my younger self would have definitely said, no way!

There have been so many changes along the way that learning the lesson of letting go of control has been in the driver's seat while I'm riding shotgun screaming, "no no go the other way!!!"

I've learned I can fight the ebb and flow or I can learn to "go with the flow".

So to next level my personal growth this year I choose the word FLOW as my #oneword for 2022.

My main intention for this year is to practice going with the flow and not only let go of control but also let in the flow of ease and grace.

I like choosing One Word for the year and then setting intentions based on my word, I love the results I'm getting by choosing One Word, and will continue to use it as long as I'm here to celebrate a new year!

I will plan for everything, and then go with the flow.
